Dear members and friends of our family association
All the happy one wants is to be born. "With this saying from Wales, I warmly welcome you in the new year of the association. "Born" in the biological sense, we are all, but what about being happy? "Actually, our birth should be a stroke of luck. Or did the British mean by their proverb that you have to be born into happiness in order to be happy at all?
In connection with happiness research asked, Prof. Dr. Mathias Binswanger why we do not feel that modern people, which at least economically lack nothing at the present time, feel happier than in earlier times. The lucky curve remains and does not want to go further up! What's happening?
In his book "The Treadmills of Happiness" he finds some interesting answers. One of them has been impressively remembered: Man feels happy in the company of other, friendly people. So, interpersonal relationships. And what happens in the modern age? Pressure to perform, the development of a career and also mostly initiated by the advertising excessive activism rob us a lot of time. It is this time, which for the sake of simplicity we mostly "cut off" the network of relationships, that is, friendships, colleagues, etc., "wrongly, exactly where it would be essential for our feeling of happiness, to reduce nothing. Binswanger calls this a "treadmill" we got into.
If we cultivate our family or family affiliation in our family association, that means nothing more than protecting us together from the aforementioned treadmill. Actually, I think, we know this as a member of our associates long ago, consciously or unconsciously. But now it is busy. So let us be happy, and at the same time affirm, when research comes to the same conclusion!
Less than a year ago, on the occasion of our 14th Family Meeting in Werthenstein, we were able to experience an enriching day among many relatives and acquaintances. As a personal reminder of this successful conference, I recommend a review of the protocol, which is mentioned in this newsletter and supplemented with a photo collage. Let the beautiful moments in the memory blossom again.
In one year, our family band celebrates its 40th anniversary, which we want to celebrate in the early autumn of 2014 on the occasion of a jubilee conference. The board is working on the program, which we will present in the next newsletter with an invitation. Let yourself be surprised.
Satisfaction does not spare us from the sad sides of life. On May 13, 2012, our longtime associate and wife of our founding member Josef Stirnimann, blessed, died with Olga Stirnimann-Wälchli, formerly "Eintracht Rüediswil". Even within the active board, two members had to say goodbye to their loved ones within a year. On 16 October 2012, Martha Stirnimann-Bühlmann, wife of Franz Stirnimann, died on 24 January 2013 of Monique von Niederhäusern, wife of our new member Moritz Stirnimann. Let us keep the two and all other, unnamed dead people in our thoughts. "Lord, give them eternal peace, and the everlasting light shines on them."
If you hold the new newsletter in your hands, you will find that there have been some renewals. In the board, we always strive to make the newsletter interesting and varied. If you have any ideas or suggestions in this regard, please let us know. According to the application at the meeting, we will update the list of keywords in the coming months. On our homepage we create a new area for our members. There you can see the complete edition as well as the index, but only with the password, which you can see on the last page of this newsletter. It is valid for one year.
Finally, I would like to thank you for your participation and the support of our family organization. I wish you good luck and satisfaction and ... beware of a happy born human being in front of the "treadmills of happiness".

Father Jost Stirnimann (monastic name Jodokus, Jodok) lived from 1654-1706, of which 36 years in the monastery Muri, AG. In the years 1695-1697 he followed attentively the progress of the construction work on the today's monastery church.
The original of his diary is in the archive of the College Sarnen. In the next newsletter we will publish a part of this diary. Here already the 9th episode.
On the 2nd of July we left the spa of Pfäfers to return home. Around 6 o'clock in the morning, after we had celebrated Mass and drank the medicinal water, we left for Pfäfers monastery.
On the 3rd of July we had lunch in the auditorium and had dinner in the convent. The following morning we went to Sargans to see Mr. Casparus Meyer from Lucerne, at that time on the train to the Meylanic area, but on that day with his official and other good reasons, but sincerely with the PP. Capucinis at Meltz in the Capucin Monastery, whereupon we were also invited yesterday with her and other invited guests, when it was not far and at the PP. Capucinis, who at noon delivered, it was also the Father Provincial of the Aldorten: who also had dinner with us, after lunch we rode to Walenstadt, where we spent the night. The following day we came to Lachen, where we also stayed overnight. On Wednesday morning we rode to Einsiedeln Abbey in the morning, arrived at 9 o'clock in the evening and spent the night there.
On the following 6th of July we took lunch at the convent and continued to train and stayed at the Inn at the Crowns.
The next day we had lunch with the monks and we left home. On the same day that we left the spa of Pfäfers, the aforementioned Bishop of Augsburg also left, but in the afternoon, that is, on the day of the Visitation of Mary, which fell on a Sunday.
On this seventh Sunday after Pentecost, on the day of the Visitation of Mary, the apostolic nuncio from Lucerne came to Muri and consecrated the chapel of our abbot. He also consecrated our Father Henricus to the priest extra temporal, at the request of his mother.
On the 23rd, the 10th Sunday after Pentecost, our Fr. Henricus celebrated his first mass.
On Saturday, August 12, the new Chancellor took his oath in the Hypocausus of the Convention in the presence of the chapter after the first Mass. The former, however, solemnly resigned his office.
On the 13th of August, the 13th Sunday after Pentecost, the old gentleman Cantzler Weissenbach gave his last and all the priests have to be hoped in the great sahl the fratres and brothers in the convent. The next morning he took leave and returned to Zug in his house.

On November 27, the contract with the Bishop of Constance over our pastorate of Hohenburg expired.
On November 23, our P. Ambrosius became assistant to the sick pastor of Bosweil and as schoolmaster replaced him with P. Josephus.
On the 6th of December, at about 11 o'clock in the evening or at night, on the day of St. Nicholas: on the 8th of December, on the day of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, said pastor of Bosweil, Mr. Melchior Marianus Müller from Zug, in the choir of Church buried.
On the 9th of December, the chapter came together and decided to leave the vacant Bosweiler office to no secular until the Sonnenburg affair was finished. Father Ambrosius, the deceased pastor's co-ordinator, was to administer the parish in the meantime.
On December 11, the convent lady of the monastery of Rothausen Maria Catharina Euphrosyna Wüastin wrote to me. She asked me in her letter to accept her as a spiritual sister, and I consented.
On the 27th of December, on the day of St. John the Evangelist, around 8 o'clock in the evening, our lay brother Thomas Scherer from Feldkirch died in the Lord, and on the following day, the day of the Holy Innocents, he was buried after the party in the afternoon Service.

On January 8, Fr. Joachim, who had been a kitchen master for another year, has been turned off to teach some school boys in syntax and further studies. He was succeeded by P. Victor, who was also Granarius. But only as a representative of the Archimagirus.
On the 24th of January, at about 9 o'clock in the morning, Father Leodigarius Holdermayer, our senior from Lucerne, died in the Lord during a high Mass, and at the same time the honorable family Holdermayer died because he was the last person of this tribe. On the following day of the conversion of St. Paul, he was buried in the morning.
On the 31st of January the convent read a holy bull from Rome at table and afterwards hung it up in the usual public place with the plaques. This bull has been sent all over the world to all believing Christians so that all priests around the world, secular clerics, ***, should read this bull Unum Sacrum according to the will of the pope, for the reward of perfect forgiveness, secular and spiritual men and women. If they wanted to obtain the mentioned forgiveness, they should confess and communicate for themselves or for the deceased.
On the 12th of February a servant from Klingenberg wrote a letter confirming the contract we have with the bishop of Constance for another 30 years because of the office of our brothers in Sonnenburg.

On February 1, the Most Holy Mr. Pope Alexander VIII died in the Lord, a Venetian, who had been called before the pontificate Peter Ottobonus.
On March 5, the chapter came together and discussed whether the parish office of Bosweil would again be filled with a secular priest because the Concordat on the Sonnenburg office was assured, even if it had not yet been handed over. It has been decided that the Bosweiler Office will not be awarded until the Concordat is handed over and sealed. Hereupon Mr. Johannes Casparus Wolläb, one of our vicars in Sursee, again his claim to this, and it has been decided that the office should be transferred to him in due course, for certain reasons.
On May 9, the chapter reassembled and transferred the Bosweiler Office to Mr. Synesius Risser from Bremgarten, the pastor of Lunkhofen, at his own request. The Concordat had been signed and given by the Constance.
On March 12, the chapter came together again and transferred the vacant office Lunkhofen Mr. N., the son of the preacher Schup in Sursee.
On March 18, Mr. Adelricus Stierlin returned home from Milan, from the college where he had studied for several years.
On March 20, Mr. Synesius Risser, the pastor of Lunkhofen, set off for Bosweil, which he had received from us on 9 March.
On the 16th of April, around 8 o'clock in the morning on Easter Monday, Mr. Johannes Henricus Knyd, our vicar in Sursee, died in the Lord's blessed Virgin Mary.
On April 16, on Easter Monday, Mr. Adelricus Stierlin celebrated the Egg, his first Mass in the parish church.
On April 19, John Jodocus Sutor of Muri, the pastor of Beinwil, was elected by the Chapter to the said pastoral office of the Blessed Virgin Mary, which had become vacant following the death of Mr. Knyd. In the same assembly, the famous Herr Jacobus Stierlin from Muri, doctor of the Holy Scriptures and at that time pastor in Sursee, was transferred to the vacant office of Beinwil.
On May 3, the day of the invention of the Holy Cross, after the first morning Mass, the chapter was called in which Mr. Hilli of Sursee, who had been proposed to us by the Magistrate as Pastor of Sursee, became the pastor of the said ministry Sursee has been elected. On the 16th of May at half past six o'clock in the morning our lay brother Matthias Küng from Beinwil passed away. He was buried on 17 May in the morning. Furthermore, died during the Angelusläden at noon today P. Fintanus Rüssi from Rapperswil. And he was buried the next day.

On May 28, the princes and abbots of our congregation arrived to hold a congregation here.

Minutes of the meeting
WelcomeThe President Beat Stirnimann sends a warm welcome to all members of the Association of Central Switzerland, the cantons of Aargau, Basel and Zurich. After poll he decides to carry out the conference in High German.
A special welcome goes to the honorary members Alois Stirnimann with his wife, Wolhusen, to our former president Josef Stirnimann-Haas with his wife and to the board members. No changes to the agenda were required.
Election of vote counters: Fritz Stirnemann and Moritz Stirnimann. There are totally 56 persons present, of which 3 children.
Short review of the president: Three years ago, the 35th anniversary Ruswil took place. In 2010, the Board met for a special board meeting for a workshop-like presentation of family material. The homepage has been revised, all newsletters are published since 2001. Other activities include writing circulars, processing inquiries and mutations "from around the world" and finally preparing for today's family meeting.

Even in our association we had to say farewell to loved ones in the last three years: Maria Stirnimann, sister and housekeeper of our professor Joseph Stirnimann blessed, died on October 31, 2009 in Lucerne and Moritz Stirnimann, father of our new member Moritz Stirnimann, died on April 21, 2012 in Lucerne. We remember a brief moment of silence for you two and all those who are not mentioned here and rise to our feet.

A short biography
Funerals are an important thing for families. Not only because you are burying a relative, but also because the living see each other again at the grave of the deceased, and later at the food, which is still served for those long-traveled. So the request, whether I would like to work on the board, was brought to me at the funeral of my uncle, the "Längetise Toni Seppe Leo". The question was posed by the "Längetise Toni Seppe Hanse Beat", our president. - You notice, this branch of the family Stirnimann is slightly archaic; After all, Lange Matthias (actually Karl Joseph Matthias 1811-1887) was my great-great-grandfather.
From this man my grandfather probably knew the wild stories of the Sonderbund War, from which I can understand a little his conservative attitude, which my father told about. Anton, my great-grandfather, was born in 1856 († 1927). He was like his father Bauer in Hinter Etzenerlen and married a Barbara Heini. So I understand today that individual exponents of the Heini family were considered relatives, which I never understood as a child. In 1891, my grandfather saw the light of day. He bought the 9 Ha-Hof Deckehonig in 1919, where my father was the sixth of eight
Children saw the light of day in 1929. "Längetise Toni Seppe Maritz" (named after the important martyr and church patron Ruswils Mauritius) became a gardener in Solothurn, where he took over in 1955 together with his wife Madeleine Affolter from Recherswil (SO) a nursery. Here, three children were born, my sisters Katharina (1955) and Franziska (1958) and I as a second born in 1957. In 1964, the family moved to Lucerne, where the father was able to take over the nursery on Moosmattstrasse.
From the above, the reader can easily see that the family has always been cared for in this branch of the Stirnimann men. At the funeral of my grandfather in 1968, I hardly knew any human soul. I was introduced to old women I had never met before, and I do not think so. On the question. "Jo, who bisch de you?" Father always answered with the slogans: "That is de Längetise Toni Seppe Maritze Maritz." Then everything was clear, I saw it immediately, but more: one belonged to the family, one was not a runaway, one was one, and the family was big at the time. The last few years have allowed the meaning of the family to wither a bit. This can not be changed, is not so bad, maybe modern times need other structures.
I take it easy, have (even) only two boys, the pedigrees are thinner again. Professionally, I occasionally deal with Stirnimanns; I work as a secondary school teacher at the technical Berufsmatura in Lucerne, and I ask everyone who he is and where he comes from. My cooperation in the Associateon’s board is not yet clear, I am not yet a family researcher, although I found a lot of "Stirnimann" and "Sternemann" in the passenger lists of the shipping companies on the occasion of a visit to the "Ballinstadt" emigration museum in Hamburg have turned their backs on Europe out of necessity or thirst for adventure.
