Howard and his wife's (Mary Haydock) brother Gideon Haydock of Smithland, Kentucky, started Haydock (now called Haddox) Ferry of what is now the SKW Allow plant site in Calvert City, Kentucky. [WFT Vol. 4, #448] The name Kuykendall and the family roots can be traced back to a man named Leuers Van Kuykendall who lived in Gelderland, Holland in the early to mid 1600's. The name became simply Kuykendall after his sons immigrated to New Amsterdam, New York, in the winter of 1646. |
