1. Immigration: From Doerrenbach, Germany on ship Bethiah Thayer, 17 Dec 1858, New Orleans, LA. Johannes Trapp and Salome Schmitt were orihinally from Doerrenbach, Germany. They left for America from the port of La Havre, France on the ship Bethiah Thayer. They brought with them their first three children, Salome, 5, George Adam 2 1/2, and John, 3 mos., Salome's parents, Jacob, 51, and Barbara (Martin) Schmitt, 51, and their three daughters, Magdalena, 15, Christine, 11, and Agatha, 9. Johannes was 27 and Salome was 25. They arrived in New Orleans December 27, 1858. They came north immediately.....They settled on a farm on Buente Rd. just south of what is now called Boonville-New Harmony Rd. about 3 miles east of St. Wendel. ![]() Jacob married Barbara Martin. (Barbara Martin was born about 1807.) |
