Walter Phillip Sterneman

1. Military, 23 Apr 1943, South Pacific. Served as Master Sergeant 362nd Ordnance Maintenance Company Anti-Aircraft. Saw considerable action at the battle for Iwo Jima for which his unit won the Meritorious Service Unit Plaque. Received Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with Bronze Star; Victory Medal World War II; Good Conduct Medal. Honorably discharged Dec 13 1945.

2. Occupation: Manufacturing Engineer: Whirpool Corp., Higbie Mfg., General Electric.

Walter married Mary Ann Muehlbauer, daughter of Phillip Edward Muehlbauer and Olevia Margaret Schmitt, on 30 Nov 1940 in Evansville, IN. (Mary Ann Muehlbauer was born on 18 Jul 1919 in Evansville, IN, died on 24 Aug 2012 and was buried in Valhalla Cemetery, Bloomington, IN.)
